Multiple Levels Of Human Consciousness And How It Affects You

Have you ever wondered why some people are more conscious than others?

Why some people seem to radiate with an glow while others seem like a dark cloud passing by?

It’s not because they come from a better family upbringing (although it helps a lot in cognitive development).

It’s because they are operating at a different level of consciousness compared to others.

Enter Hawkins’ Levels Of Consciousness

David R. Hawkins wrote a book called Power vs Force where he explains that there is a hierarchy of level in human consciousness.

Screen Shot 2015-06-03 at 6.22.11 PMAccording to Hawkins, people tend to fluctuate up and down the different levels of consciousness at any given time – it is not set in stone. Most people however, tend to remain at a certain range as that is their average base level of consciousness.

There are several levels on a scale that signifies the various stats a human being can experience: shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, desire, anger, pride, courage, neutrality, willingness, acceptance, reason, love, joy, peace, enlightenment.

Shame – A person at this level might contemplate suicidal thoughts as it is only a small step above death. The self directed hatred a person feels is the lowest point on the scale and only through a long time will a person be able to grow above this level or if a miracle happens that reframes their negative reality.

Guilt – Guilt is a very low level emotion that is only slightly better than shame. Religious authorities heavily employs this tactic to keep people following a system of dogmas like sin, morality, family duties, honor and social constructs.

Apathy – Most people at this level just simply don’t give a crap. They have numbed themselves to their pain and they choose not to feel anything anymore.

Grief – A state of perpetual sadness and loss. Losing a loved one makes people drop down here. Depression sets in. It is still better than apathy because you are starting to feel something instead of just numbing yourself.

Fear – Seeing anything in the world as dangerous and unsafe. A realm of paranoia. Requires a lot of courage to climb out of this level. Often seen in an abusive relationship of one person paired up with one at a level of anger.

Desire – Not the healthy kind of desire but the level of addiction, craving, and lust for things such as money, approval, power, fame, sex or anything that one can cling on to. Advertising generally creates consumerism, materialism and debt. A lot of people who are compulsive gamblers, smokers, alcoholics or more will be at this level.

Anger – the level of intense frustration. When someone doesn’t get what they want, they often react at this level of consciousness. Sometimes this level is useful to get out of stuck states. For example, if they are stuck to lower levels for a long time, a sudden burst to anger can spur a person to climb up and take action. The only drawback is that when a person gets too addicted to anger, they will only perpetuate hate. Anger people like to be in an abusive relationship with fear people.

Pride – At this level, a person starts to feel good about themselves but it is based on falsehood. It is based on the ego and it is easily disrupted because it is based on external circumstances. A good example of this kind of pride is Nazism. A person who is overly nationalistic, racist, sexist, fanatical or zealous is also at this level. A person can also be in a state of irrational denial and defensiveness. If you hold too strongly to religious fundamentalism, you are at the pride level as well because you can see any attack on your beliefs as a direct attack on you.

Courage – Courage is the first step for true personal growth. Instead of feeling fear and anxieties, you start to embrace a path where life is challenging and growth oriented. Some people see this level as a level of developing their skills, career advancement, striving forward for a better education and improving from the previous phase to another.

Neutrality – A person at this phase is very comfortable. They don’t feel the need to change others nor do they feel the need to push themselves too hard. Unlike pride, they are generally doing very well, and feel safe and secure. They are flexible and adapt easily. Even though you take good care of your needs, you don’t see a huge need to push yourself to higher levels.

Willingness – A person at the level of willingness doesn’t just believe that getting by is good enough for them. They start to set goals and work towards them. They think about having more efficiency in their work and managing their lives. Organizing, time management, productivity and manifesting opportunities is the realm of willingness as they develop their willpower and self-discipline.

Acceptance – A step above willingness is when a person has a strong sense of mission. They are proactive and willing to perfect their craft. People at this level has mastered self-discipline and are ready to advance to the next level to take a leap forward to accomplish their mission.

Reason – A person at this level thinks rationally and has conquered the impulses of lower emotions. They start making a difference with the world around them. This is the level where Einstein and other great advancers of mankind are.

Love – This is the state of unconditional love. You have a strong connection with the collective consciousness. At this level, you can raise hundreds of people to a higher state of consciousness. You are able to influence the collective consciousness just with your energy alone. Gandhi, Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama are at this level. Hawkins claims this level is reached only by 1 in 250 people during their entire lifetimes.

Joy – If you have read the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, this is a state on unwavering and perpetual happiness. A lot of Saints and spiritual teachers are at this level – intoxicated by the feeling of knowing God. Even when you are being with these people, it will make you feel truly uplifted. Surrendering completely to your intuition, you live a guided life.

Peace – Transcending to the level of inner peace, nothing shakes you at this level. Hawkins believe that only 1 in 10 million people ever reach here.

Enlightenment – This is the epitome of human consciousness. It is when God and man are one. Only advanced avatars are at this level like Krishna, Buddha, Jesus and a few more. When people focus their energy on them, it elates their consciousness.

According to Hawkins, most of humanity are below the level of 200 due to poverty and suppression.

People who are below 200 are generally counter productive to society.

Once above 200 (courage) people are able to take responsibility for the choices they make.

The average human consciousness of the planet is at 207 – therefore the world is still on a path of growth.

For the whole of humanity to reach a satisfactory level, they must be able to reach 250 (neutrality) where people are able to have a measure of self-confidence and satisfaction as a basis for all of human life.

Working on raising your vibration and your level of consciousness is the key towards making huge advancement in our personal life and the world at large.
